In Loving Memory of Emanuel

"I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die."
— John 11:25-26

Our Story

There are no crumbled biscuits on the floor. The toys are in diligent order. No one cries – "put on your shoes". Perfect cleanliness. And order.

Rossen and Sevda Hristovi became a family in 1997. They have two children – Emanuel and Radostina. When Emko was 3 months old, doctors diagnosed him with a serious disease that was later also found in his sister – mitochondrial myopathy. The children suffer from lasting physical and mental disability. According to the doctors, the condition is genetic.

However, Mom and Dad firmly refused to place their children in a state institution. They accepted this as their calling! They want to care for and love these little beings themselves, even though the children cannot call them "Mom" and "Dad".

Sevda holds a degree in economics, but today she is "simply a mother". Rossen is a brilliant pianist. They have dedicated their lives to round-the-clock care for their helpless Emko and Radi. Unable to pursue any other profession, they receive only a minimal social pension as personal assistants, while the need for medication, therapies and supplies is enormous.
